Fire in mine field

It recently took firefighters six hours to control a seven-acre fire on the Indian-Pakistani border. Does that sound like a lot of time for a seven-acre fire? Well, there was one little complication. The fire was burning in a mine field, and the mines were exploding. This may help explain why the firefighter (or soldier?) in the photo above is using what looks like a 2-1/2 inch hose with a 1/2 inch straight stream tip–trying to put out the fire from as far away as possible. I’m not sure that even THAT selection of an appliance would give ME enough distance from exploding mines.
