NIFC sends 320 radios to Haiti

It appears that the wildland fire agencies have not been asked to do much in regards to helping the earthquake victims in Haiti, with the exception of the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Urban Search and Rescue Task Force and other similar organizations responding. However, the National Interagency Fire Center tapped into its cache of 8,000 radios to send 320 hand held units to Haiti at the request of the U.S. military’s Southern Command, or SOUTHCOM.
