  1. Thanks for this Pic, I have been searching the web looking for one. None of the News Stations are giving us visual images like this.

  2. Do we have a more updated map that estimate of the perimeter of the fire? I have family and friends that live in that area.

  3. thanks for the pics. i agree with bjones. we also live out of roscommon but have memories there.

  4. Holy Cow Bill!

KAF’s post just alerted me to something very ironic here — on the map you posted, follow Route 18 from the fire west to where it meets “Lake Street” coming up from Interstate 75…that’s Roscommon, MI.

Go southeast down that unmarked main highway (which is old route 76) to the “cross” — that is the airport which the Roscommon Equipment Center is located next to!

I don’t know how well influential they are out west, but they do a heck of a lot of equipment R&D for out east:

  5. Thank you so much for posting this quality info and links. I have been searching for decent information because my husband helped plow in the Range fire and told me the military story last night. I loved the comment “we have never heard of a controlled pre-burn” (no offense; my brother is in the national guard) but that was our sentiments exactly!
I have now bookmarked wildfire today. Thanks Again!
