A 2,000-acre fire on the Hawaiian island of Maui has closed the Honoapiilani Highway and required evacuations from about 100 homes and the employees of a wind farm. Seven helicopters, including two Hawaii Air National Guard ships, joined the efforts of fire units from around Maui to reach the remote area. A number of West Maui visitors missed flights out of Kahului Airport due to the highway closure.
