Red Flag Warnings, June 26, 2012 – Dry lightning possible

Red Flag Warnings, wildfire, June 26, 2012

Red Flag Warnings, wildfire, June 26, 2012Dry lightning is possible today for southeast Wyoming and portions of Colorado and Utah. Dry lightning means thunderstorms with lightning but with little or no rain reaching the ground. It will also be very windy in most of these areas. The temperatures will be in the 90s or over 100, and the relative humidity will be very low.

If the dry lightning actually occurs, and if there is a substantial number of new fire ignitions, firefighters are going to be busy.

  1. ±That is crazy to see our neck of the woods down south on the map. But I was telling my husband this week that we have to call down the rain, like in the Bible days, because we have fireworks coming up and we don’t want our area to go up like kindling! The grass is so brittle. People are no supposed to shoot off fireworks in the city, but they do. And with the dry ground like it is that is scary. I am believing we’ll get rain soon. I do not want our precious wheeler wildlife refuge to get hit by a fire either. We are not used to things like that down here.
Thank you for your website, btw. Excellent information±!
