Kari Greer is at it again… taking great photos for the U.S. Forest Service at a wildfire. These were all shot in mid to late August at the Trinity Ridge Fire in Idaho. You can see the another 600 or so HERE. Excellent job, Kari. And again we congratulate the USFS for their wisdom to arrange to have a great photographer document some of the major fires we are experiencing.

Is Keri related to Jerry Greer? He published the proceedings of the Remote Sensing conferences every other year. These pictures are great. I, too, miss being in fire camp since we work remotely in the infrared program. Thanks, Bill, for the nice write-up about NIROPS. It has been a very busy season for us.
Incredible documentation.
Thanks, Bill!! Nope, not related to Jerry. And glad to hear that the work is seen as documentation. That’s great to hear.
Kari Greer is a firefighter who also happens to be a professional action photographer specializing in wildland fire. She is ordered out of NIFC and comes self contained to an incident. Because of her background, Red Card and Arduous rating, she has free rein to document the incident in many ways. Her night photography is unparalleled and captures night shift like few photographers. She works for the incident or the forest and up loads her work to the Flickr account for all the see. Much of “really good” action photography you’ve seen since 1999 has come from Kari.
