The fact that NIFC is taking screenshots from Wildfire Today adds more proof to what I’ve suspected for awhile: a lot of wildland firefighters read this blog. Most of the folks on my crew check this site to find out what’s going on in other parts of the country rather than solely consulting government sites.
Congratulations – certainly a testament to the quality and timeliness of your information. It’s been my experience in recent years that with daily watching this site and another privately maintained site on wildfire, nearly all, perhaps 100% of official safety memos and other memoranda I have received have been “old news”, as I saw the same info here hours or days before it went through official channels, even as quickly as that can occur at times. Keep up the good work!
