Northern California story suggestions

Posted on Categories Uncategorized

I will be in northern California beginning in the middle of this week, looking for fire stories to tell… going fires, unusual fire-related events, Incident Command Posts, air tanker bases, engine crews, hot shots, smokejumpers…. and more.

If you have suggestions for something in the area that should be covered at Wildfire Today or Fire Aviation, let us know.

Typos, let us know HERE, and specify which article. Please read the commenting rules before you post a comment.

  1. I am working with Nor Cal 2 on the Beaver Fire on the Klamath and the sense of comaradarie with this team (and with MANY teams) would be a great piece. I doubt many folks have a clue about team cohesion and the true affection they feel for each other. I doubt they have a CLUE about the unbelievable high level strategic thinking a Team pulls off in a high stress, high visibility, high stakes, high risk environment. They deeply respect each other. I am NOT a member of this team. Just enjoying observing the team dynamics.

  2. Visit Yreka, our little town completely surrounded by wildfires. No matter which way the wind blows we will have smoke. Lots going on down here. Base is at the high school, evacuation centers. Before smoke settled in, we had views of at least 4 pyrocumulus clouds in one day. An educational piece for people about fire behaviour and what a pyrocumulus cloud is, what it does and what causes it would be awesome.

  3. Bill, if it is at all possible, get some pics of Engines doing something other than sitting at the incident base or staging area!

    1. If you catch Brush 32 from Durango Colorado, get some pictures of them working. Hubby is currently on the Log Fire. 🙂
