Red Flag Warnings or Fire Weather Watches have been issued for areas in Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, and Iowa.

The map was current as of 6:22 a.m. MDT on Wednesday. Red Flag Warnings can change throughout the day as the National Weather Service offices around the country update and revise their forecasts and maps. For the most current data visit this NWS site or this NWS site.

  1. With all of the March fires in multiple states (including here at home in Montana), I surprised that NIFC/NICC is still only doing a weekly Sit Report.
    Time to pay attention to conditions, not calendars.

    1. Very good point. I have always felt that the agencies should base their planning on what they see out the window not what they see on the calendar.

    2. Are a few early local fires really a national concern? I doubt resources are being stretched to where planning at the national level needs to start taking place. Better fire up the MAC Group.
