The song and the photos in the video are about the largest wildfire in the recorded history of Washington — the 256,108-acre Carlton Complex of Fires. In July, 2014 it burned approximately 300 homes in and around the towns of Pateros and Malott as well others in more rural areas.
The video is very well done, beautifully sung by Brittany Jean, and is quite moving.
Great song from such a young songbird. Her lyrics really capture the feeling of the wildland-urban interface fire from the perspective of those who suffer the most loss, the homeowners. Excellent musicians backing her on one of the finest songs about wildland fire since Charlie Daniels did “Fire on the Mountain”. Maybe she could write another song about “Defensible Space” ?
Reminds me of the Celtic ballads.
