  1. Hey this is Matt Cox!! I just found this blog when I googled my name!! Thats so funny. Well yes I did win the dirty jobs contest in Bend Oregon. I am very happy to see all my fire brothers out there supporting each other like this! Thats what makes us brothers even if we’ve never met. Thank all of you for your support. Now for the fun part- my trip to the coast. The weather was beautiful!! Like 65 degrees in the middle of January. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer room either!! I brought my family and was able to sneek my fire buddies in too! The food was great and so were the bloody marys:) I had a blast and even sprained my ankle wrestling in the motel room. It put my snowboarding on hold for a few weeks but thats okay. I’ll be healed in time for this years fire season (shaping up to be catastrophic by the way) and we’ll be at it again. Also, I originally thought the dirty jobs contest was to be on the Discovery Channel Dirty Jobs Show. But it wasn’t. It was sponsored by the Discovery Channel and Robberson Ford of Bend, but it wasn’t for a spot on the show from what I now understand. Bummer. I am ready to take Mike Rowe out on a two week Unit Burn if he wants to- with no showers- gridding through the ash in the rain… what ever..Thanks everybody for the support,Matt Cox -Wildland Fire Fighter- Central Oregon Dirty Jobs Contest Winner
