Have you ever been to the spot where the corners of four states meet? There is a marker at the intersection of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. It is supposed to be at 109 degrees west longitude and 37 degrees north latitude, but the National Geodetic Survey now says that surveying errors led to the present marker being 2 1/2 miles west 1,801 feet east of where it should be. Oops.
(This article has been corrected. Originally the Associated Press reported on April 20 that the monument was 2.5 miles west of where it should be. But, according to Dave Doyle of the National Geodetic Survey on April 22, it is actually 1,807 feet east of where it should be.)
