Australia: prepare, stay, and defend

Frank Campbell has written an article analyzing the advice provided by Australia’s Country Fire Authority (CFA)  about the prepare, stay, and defend program. Much of his criticism attacks minutia in a CFA report, “Living in the Bush”. Mr. Campbell, who claims he used to be the “Australian editor of Wildfire magazine”,  is one of the few voices in Australia that publicly oppose the prepare, stay, and defend program.

Mr. Campbell raises some questions in his article, many of which can be answered by the excellent research conducted by Jack Cohen of the Missoula, Montana Fire Sciences Laboratory. Mr. Cohen covered much of this topic during our February 13 Live Discussion–the transcript is still available HERE.
