Two fires near the Grand Canyon, one in the park and the other in the Kaibab National Forest, are moving toward each other and are now about 1/2 mile apart. The Ruby fire in the Forest has burned about 2,400 acres and is approaching the Game Reserve fire in Grand Canyon National Park. The two fires are now being managed by one Type 3 Incident Management Team which is calling the fires the Ruby Complex.
This map from June 11, the latest available on InciWeb, shows the relationship of the fires with previous wildfires and prescribed fires. The Ruby fire has grown by about 700 acres since the map was made.
