Prescribed fire in Santa Barbara County escapes

A prescribed fire intended to burn 150 acres escaped and burned an additional 20 bonus acres on Figueroa Mountain in northeastern Santa Barbara County in southern California. The U. S. Forest Service said the strong winds that blew embers outside the fire line on Tuesday were not in the weather forecast.

About 150 firefighters were dispatched from the USFS, CalFire, the Vandenberg Air Force Base Hot Shot Crew, and inmate crews.
