US Navy develops system for detecting wildfires

The United States Navy has developed software that quickly and automatically detects and maps fires from high resolution commercial overhead imagery. They have obtained a patent on the system which they “seek to commercialize”. The video below explains how it can map fires with far better resolution than the MODIS system that the US. Forest Service developed.
