Dario Franchitti is one of the best race car drivers in the world. He was the IndyCar series champion in 2007, 2009, and 2010, and won the Indianapolis 500 in 2007 and 2010. There is no IndyCar race this weekend so he took the opportunity to fly back home to Scotland.
But even a champion race car driver occasionally has trouble behind the wheel, or handlebars. Here are some messages he sent out via his Twitter account over the last few days:
April 18: Fun day at honda. on the plane now heading to scotland,
looking forward to getting home seeing family and catching up with the boys!!
April 19: Just landed home in scotland (the most beautiful country in the world!!) the sun is shining so it’s time to get the cars out!!!
April 23: Oops, the water was a little deeper than I thought!!! http://yfrog.com/h8vc9swj (note from Bill: this link is to the picture above)
April 23: Typical honda, pulled the plug out and turned it over to get rid of the water, put the plug back in and it fired up!!!
April 23: Having a pint of kingfisher, supporting @pauldirestaf1 sponsor!!
All of the IndyCars use Honda engines and they have been extremely reliable for the race series. Not one has failed during a race, and apparently Franchitti is fond of the brand — or at least publically supports his series’ sponsor.
