Firefighters are busy in Florida and Alaska.
Florida
From the FirstCoastNews:
Old St. Augustine Road and Interstate 95 in St. Johns County have reopened after both closed briefly due to the growing wildfires in the area. Interstate 95 closed because of smoke and possible flames in the area from a wildfire near County Road 210. The fire has now jumped I-95, from the east to the west side just south of 210. Eleven acres of the largely wooded area have been burned in the area so far, according to St. Johns County Fire and Rescue. Crews continue to work southwest of where I-95 and 210 meet.
According to the Division of Forestry, there are nearly five dozen active wildfires burning across the First Coast.
Two of the larger ones are in Flagler County. A stretch of U.S. 1 north of Bunnell was closed due to one fire late Tuesday, but was reopened today.
Here is some very good video of a fire in St. Johns County, Florida.
Alaska
Alaska has at least half a dozen large fires burning. Two of them, the East Volkmar and Coal Creek fires have burned over 22,000 acres each. Here are some photos of several of them, from InciWeb. More info on the Alaska fires.
