Paracargo, another method for delivering supplies to firefighters

Paracargo

ParacargoA McCall smokejumper stars in this video that promotes the concept of using paracargo to deliver supplies and equipment to wildland firefighters in very remote areas.

UPDATE March 18, 2013: Since we first posted the NIFC Paracargo video on March 15, the BLM at NIFC has removed it from YouTube twice and replaced it. Below we have embedded it for the third time. If later you see below “This video has been removed”, it will mean that the BLM at NIFC has removed it a third time.

  1. I recommended PC on the Zaca, when they were building spikes with helos… No bite….. Oh well…. an A22 with a weeks worth of food, off of one pass off the tail of a Casa…. or 8 trips with a B-205 X 6.0 X 3 days…. That’s cool….. The AOBD is better served by worrying about how much OT I logged. v How much a former SMJ could have saved the American taxpayer… by having such a hair brained idea.

  2. I would have to agree paracargo is a very effective way of delivering items to firefighters on the ground. I would personally take paracargo over a sling load any day.

  3. Always remember – what drops in must also come out, either on a back, on a pack string or in a cargo net.
