Department of Interior recruits veterans

Today, Veterans Day in the United States (and Armistice Day and Remembrance Day in other countries), is a good time to view this excellent video produced by the U.S. Department of Interior. It highlights military veterans in wildland firefighting careers talking about the esprit de corps and crew cohesion among wildland firefighters.

The 11th of November marks the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I. It took effect at eleven o’clock in the morning—the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918.

Thank you, all veterans, for your service.
