So sad when politicians act jealous of anything that might have almost as much hot air as they do.

There was also a story about a year ago about a politician criticizing the balloon.
It was Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell who wanted to permanently ground the Smokey Bear Balloon in 2013. His Chief of Staff made fun of the “balloon lobby” that wants to retain the fire prevention tool
Smokey gets in the news every year in Albuquerque, in large part because of the accident many years ago.
I can confirm that Smokey did make an appearance at the Albuquerque balloon fiesta this year.
Other than Santa Smokey is the most recognizable character to kids. We can not afford to lose this icon. This ballon is a great idea!
The Albuquerque balloon festival is happening October 3-11 it could be at the festival.
