Wildfires in Siberia may be to blame for some of the smoke that has passed over Alaska and northern Canada in recent days. Meanwhile, fires in Saskatchewan and Manitoba are contributing to the smoky skies in Ontario, Canada and the Midwest in the United States.
Below is a video showing a vehicle in the Chernyshevsky District of Russia, 300 km from Chita, driving through smoke near a wildfire. It was uploaded May 17, 2016.

just sent this to my dr,she is from this area,Chernyshevsky District,we had just talked about Lake Baikal thursday and that she is going there in about 35 days.she viewed the youtube and ,emailed me back saying her cousin had called her last night sometime about the fires. seems surreal to me that i know, and have become friends with someone who in the 80s would have considered us enemies, weve discussed this fact, she grew up scared of the USA,pretty much the same as a lot of us felt about the USSR,she went to a technical school for what we would call high school, and then to Vladivostok medical school ,when she became a doctor, she moved back to Baical and then sometime in 1995,she was offered a job here in northern california and took it,married an American man and they have a great life here, thing is,he just got a job at a power plant in Washington state and they are leaving ,well her last day is August 1 2016,ive only known her for a short time, but weve become fast friends, third dr ive done this with..lol..anyway..my point is its odd to me that here i see a story about where my new friend grew up..clear over in Russia.
