  1. “First responders continue to work around the clock to keep the fire at bay and keep the people of Timberon safe. At the state level, we’ve activated our Emergency Operations Center, made available all state resources, and requested federal assistance. And now, with this declaration of emergency, we can help the county secure funding to pay for additional resources they need as we battle this fire.” The Otero County sheriff confirmed Thursday that there are 79 structures burned, including 31 homes and two commercial buildings. Thirty-two sheds or barns, and multiple vehicles have also been lost.

    1. Chris Wheeler the Fire Chief’s wife, told me to have checks sent to the Timberon Fire Dept. and in the remarks section of the check to be sure to write “For the FIRE FAMILIES” and 100% would go to them.
