  1. This fire is the worst crime ever committed in Oregon. The USFS completely failed to do their job, to preserve and protect our forest, And it is OUR forest not the USFS’s forest. Let it Burn, no salvage, no road maintenance, no timber sales, one size fits all forest management thought up somewhere else, that does not fit here, all are reasons that the USFS is no longer an effective land management agency and needs major reform. Return to the time tested fire management of “hit’em hard and keep them small” that had nearly ended large fires back in the ’70’s. Demand a commitment from the forest service to put every fire out before they burn 1000 acres, develop pump chances, fuel breaks, do brush disposal and road maintenance, insist on salvage and snag felling on all burns. change management at the top levels of the USFS. Fire everyone that worked the management of this fire.

  2. Your wildfire smoke maps are way out of date and therefore not helpful. Current means the day or day before.

    1. When the satellite photos with the red dot heat sources are posted they are the most current available and are never more than 24 hours old, and are usually less than 12 hours old.

I ask that you double-check your assumptions. Be sure that you are reading the date the article was posted, which is on the left side, then compare the article date with the date and time of the map. Conversions from various time zones and UTC time that may be printed on the maps has to be considered.
