These photos were taken by Bill Gabbert December 12 at the Legion Lake Fire east of Custer, South Dakota — except, the air tankers were at the Air Tanker Base at Rapid City Regional Airport the same day, and the last photo was taken just after midnight, at 12:07 a.m. MST December 13, 2017.
