A slow year in wildfire activity would seem to logically lend itself to a higher than usual rate of fuels work. The NIFC Situation report no longer carries a prescribed fire activity table, but the year end statistics for acres treated by agency and by region should be revealing, especially if wildfire activity continues relatively low. Plenty of time to do burn plans and prep work for prescribed fire projects.
