Try THIS for a cardiovascular workout

You may have seen some of the videos that were made by dancing firefighting helitack crews with too much time on their hands. We had one embedded here for a while but the source was removed, according to YouTube,  “due to a copyright claim by Christopher Teter BLM/Forest Service”. Right. It could be argued that making the videos was not the best use of the public employees’ time, and did little, if anything to benefit the federal government.

I propose an alternative. Check out this video of the Firecrackers Jump Rope Team performing at the U.S. Naval Academy.

You will have to agree that the performers in the video are amazing. Amazing. It looks like a movie is going to be made about the Firecrackers.

I DARE any fire crew to begin jumping rope during their designated physical training time and put it on video.

Jumping rope has the following benefits:

  • Improves cardiovascular endurance
  • Engages your core muscles while stabilizing you during movement
  • Improves agility
  • Engages your upper body muscles as you control the rope
  • Engages your leg muscles as you jump

  1. I don’t know which was better, the awesome performance, or the guys’ reactions in the bleachers. Haha!
