A 76-year old woman in Chalk River, Ontario, Canada died when she tried to put out a fire that had spread from the leaves she was burning into nearby grass and pine needles.

From the Ottawa Citizen:

“She tried to put it out and (with) the light clothing she had on, she just flashed over,” said Laurentian Hills Fire Chief Kevin Waito.

“Her husband was nearby, but he was 85 years old, so there was very little he could do.

“He attempted to pull her out. A neighbour gentleman, he came over and carried her out, but it was too late by then.”

It was only yesterday that Wildfire Today covered the death of a 91-year old man that died of burns he suffered while tending a debris fire near Eau Pleine, Wisconsin.
