We ran across this photo of a helicopter dropping water on a structure fire in New Zealand, in the aftermath of the recent earthquake. About half of the city of Christchurch has lost water service, so helicopters dropping water may be an important firefighting tool.

  1. That’s the CTV building which is going to end up around 40% of all the fatalities — they have around 320 dead or missing right now, and 120 of those are in this building.

  2. Reminds me of the tanker used in Grand Forks ND years ago. Structure fire in downtown during the big flood.
