Video: prescribed fire in the Midwest

This video shows prescribed burning in Cook County near Chicago, Illinois between November 10 and November 30 of this year. If you love hard rock music, you will like the sound track. If not, then you’ve been warned.

Parts of it were shot with a helmet-mounted Contour Roam camera and then edited with VideoPad. The video can also be found on YouTube.

  1. Pretty neat to see burning near Chicago. I grew up in the southern suburbs and the first prescribed fire I ever saw was in the forest preserve there in the early to mid 90’s. Then they stopped burning for a while, glad to see it going again! I had no idea back then I would end up working in fuels for the USFS in Northern California! Just as an FYI, there is no ‘e’ on the end of Cook County 🙂

  2. Interesting perspective with the helmet cam. Noticed they were reasonably priced on Black Friday. Note, 1:04 on the video. Fire jump the break?
