These can be effective as long as the wind is at the firefighter’s back. If it is not, embers can be lifted and then blown across the fireline, spreading the fire.

Used to be a product called “Porta-Cafs” that used a leaf blower to apply a foam mixture. Not sure if it still exists.
They also work great in hardwood leaf litter both for line construction and direct attack.
What works even better is a mist blower using a .3% class a foam mix.
