The military assists with firefighting in 2014

The Department of Defense included these photos in a collection of images that look back on 2014.

  1. Looks like a CH-46 not a CH-53. That would be a Sea Knight not a Super Stallion

  2. The CH 46 (Frog) with probably a 324 gallon Bambi Bucket.

  3. Continuing, had to stop for just a few minutes and watch Santa hover down through the pine trees. Sled doesn’t produce much wind? In my 46 years as a fire fighter one of the most memorable was flying (over 600 hours) Cal Fire Manager, with the military. I cannot think of a single incident where the private sector operators where negative. When the conditions are in alignment there is work for all. Great pictures by the military staff photographers, thanks.
