The Associated Press is reporting that a fast moving wildfire near Cowiche, Washington burned an engine, and three firefighters were transported to a hospital and treated for minor burns. The fire, which started a around 2:30 Sunday afternoon about 12 miles northwest of Yakima near Cowiche Creek Nursery (map), by 7:30 p.m. had burned about 7,000 acres and two homes, according to the Yakima Herald. (UPDATE: by 9:30 p.m. fire officials said it had grown to about 8,500 acres.)

Strong winds are pushing the fire and threatening an area with about 100 homes, resulting in some evacuations.
