This 42-second video shows a faller finishing the process of felling a tree on the Thompson Ridge Fire in northern New Mexico. Turn up the volume so that you can hear the sound echoing through the forest of the tree hitting the flat, bare ground. The video was shot by Kristen Honig of the Valles Caldera Trust.

Once again we have video of people like the swapper in this video wearing their fire pack while conducting felling operations. Escaping the stump can be essential. Strapping 25-30lbs to your back is not wise, as demonstrated by several stumbles on this flat open ground. The immediate threat to life / safety is the tree.
People get so used to having thier pack on its not perceived as a hindrance, or a safety issue.
