Smokestack demolition: FAIL

Oops! The demolition of the 275-foot smokestack at the Ohio Edison Mad River Power Plant in Springfield, Ohio did not go well on Wednesday. It fell in the wrong direction, damaging some electrical equipment and knocking out the power for more than 8,000 customers.

Check out this video.

I wonder if the children doing the countdown planned the demolition and planted the explosives?

Thankfully, no one was injured and the power was restored later in the day. The tower landed on a structure housing back-up generators and damaged some electrical lines.

The company that conducted the demolition, Advanced Explosives Demolition, was featured in the six-part TLC Network series called The Imploders.
