Washington: An engine burns and 3 firefighters have minor injuries at fast moving brush fire

The Associated Press is reporting that a fast moving wildfire near Cowiche, Washington burned an engine, and three firefighters were transported to a hospital and treated for minor burns. The fire, which started a around 2:30 Sunday afternoon about 12 miles northwest of Yakima near Cowiche Creek Nursery (map), by 7:30 p.m. had burned about 7,000 acres and two homes, according to the Yakima Herald. (UPDATE: by 9:30 p.m. fire officials said it had grown to about 8,500 acres.)

Strong winds are pushing the fire and threatening an area with about 100 homes, resulting in some evacuations.

And speaking of Yakima, their fire department will be featured in two episodes of a show on the Sportman Channel. The first part was on Sunday July 18 and the second part will air July 24th at 6:30 AM and July 25th at 12:30 AM. Here is a video report from KNDO about the show.
