Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watches have been issued for areas in California, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and Montana. Forecasters are expecting thunderstorms in most of the locations, some with “abundant lightning”.

Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watches have been issued for areas in Washington, Oregon, and northern California for Monday morning through Tuesday night. Forecasters are expecting thunderstorms, some with “abundant lightning” and little rain.

Rain and Red Flag Warnings are in the weather forecast for different areas of northern California, Washington, and Oregon today. While some portions of northeast California received rain overnight, a Red Flag Warning will be in effect for areas in the far north part of the state along with sections of Oregon and Washington. “Abundant lightning” is the primary reason for the Warning, which will be in effect on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 11 p.m.
At 5 a.m. PDT Tuesday morning, as you can see in the map below, some areas in California were receiving rain, but at that time it was missing most of the large fires.

Fire weather forecasters have issued a Red Flag Warning valid from 11 a.m. Monday until 2 a.m. Tuesday, PDT, for “abundant lightning” in northern California and some areas in Oregon. Significant rainfall is expected with some of the thunderstorms.
A Fire Weather Watch is in effect from late Monday night through Tuesday evening.

The fire weather forecasters enlarged the Red Flag Warning areas at mid-day on Saturday to include much larger areas in Oregon where lightning is in the forecast for today. Lightning is also predicted for the east half of Washington. A fire weather watch area, shown in yellow, is in effect for northeastern California.
