This photo of a fire in Washington, taken recently by Michael Stanford, reminds us of the famous photo of the elk in a stream next to a fire, shot by John McColgan a number of years ago.

Two big fires in central WA only about 60 miles apart are the sort of thing that careless or unlucky journalists can confuse.
That photo is actually the Chiwaukum fire burning along the Wenatchee River in Tumwater canyon just west of Leavenworth.
Just a correction: the photo is taken of the Chiwaukum Creek fire. The location of the photo is in the upper portion of Tumwater Canyon near Leavenworth, Washington. Highway 2 is on the left, the water in the foreground is the Wenatchee River. Looking downstream.
The photo was described at the Huffington Post site as having been taken at the Carlton Complex Fire. We removed the reference to that fire.
We all know how reliable HuffPost isn’t.
I thought the same thing, Bill, when I saw that photo. Elk at Sula Version 2.
OUTSTANDING image.
The Carlton Complex (etc.) has a BAER team initiated and they’re working on a new one-stop-shop website. Stay tuned.
Yes, it is a very good picture by Mr. Stanford. Good job sir.
