Extreme video for a fire truck

This video about the Bulldog Extreme Fire Truck is interesting; 2,000 gallons is pretty impressive. At 2:11, I wonder if the woman standing next to it is no taller than 4′ 6″, making the truck, photographed from that low angle and with a wide angle lens, look huge.

  1. Yikes, what a waste of tax payer money. 🙁 For the cost of one of these, you can purchase two higher-capacity pumpers or 3 water tenders.

What we have here is an expensive toy, using us endlessly-exhausted tax payers once again forced to pay for someone else’s needless toys.

  2. Our volunteer Dept. converted a military 5 ton: there were several instances when it was the only vehicle that could take the call. Yes: tricky to drive, but then most of the time it was going 10 miles / hr. (straight up, straight down, cross country, through mud, water, trees, rocks, you name it!) 1500 gal tank, hard top, massive tires, only 250 original miles… cost? $2000.

  3. Howe and Howe were the guys that invented the tracked wheel chair for wounded Vets to get around. I miss their TV show that used to show them inventing other tracked vehicles for the military to try out.

  4. Sometime back in history Colorado had some military two and a half ton trucks with all wheel drive, a winch and bumpers capable of demolishing trees. A 1,500 gallon tank and pump on back along with hose reel and a couple of front mounted sprayers. The manual transmission was a bitch to drive and not much in the way of power steering but like the Bulldog it could go damn near anywhere and was very tough. It was a ragtop and the front windshield folded down. No heater or AC. Totally badass truck to get into the boonies and put out fires.
