A video/slide show of Tanker 07, a P2V, dropping on the Myrtle Fire. All photos were taken near Rifle Pit Road on July 19, 2012 at 8:24 p.m. by Bill Gabbert of Wildfire Today. And no, it did not crash into the trees; it exited the area safely and went back to Rapid City for the night.

We’re really hungry for updates-particularly maps. We have family with structures off of Song Dog road and friends in areas of Argyle. Is there a way we can access MODIS data to create our own maps?
Any updates Saturday 7/21? We have friends in the area who are evacuated. Thank you.
07 is a PV2-5 bit shorter and lighter than the
ubiquitous -7’s also it has an armored canopy
winch is handy in bird strikes…
“Which” spellchecker…
that’s it…
Nice slide show and music. At the exact time I was watching the show my local classical station was playing your theme music, so I got to hear the entire selection, some in from two devices, my radio and the laptop!
Hmmmm… spooky, BMorgan.
Great updates Bill! Thanks for keeping all of us up to date… You are appreciated!
Thanks, Bill.
Thanks for the info and photos. I have a home on the north side of Beaver Creek Road near the intersection of Beaver Creek and Rifle Pit. It’s hard to sit here, so your info really helps.
You’re welcome, Jody.
A little more info on the status of 43 (I assume). RCJ reports an air tanker had to dump their load @ takeoff due to engine issues.

Great Slide Show Bill!
